What you'll need to begin creating extensions
Creating your own extension is exciting, you're essentially adding functionality to an already awesome platform and improving it for everyone who uses it.
Creating an extension, however, is not quite as simple as dragging in blocks of code and there is some prior knowledge required.
To begin creating extensions you will need a beginner to intermediate knowledge of Java, this guide will not teach you how to program but rather, how to use your programming knowledge and adapt it to the App Inventor environment.
If you need additional resources to begin learning Java the following are a few places around the web which may help you.
- Java tutorial for complete beginners - Udemy A free beginners course for Java provided by Udemy
- Java tutorial - Sololearn Another free online course with 65 lessons available, provided by Sololearn
- Learn Java - Codecademy Codecademy have courses available in a range of programming languages and also support Java
You will also require your own personal computer as we will need to install various software and other dependencies to get your environment ready for extension development.
